Founded in 2012 on the initiative of the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Astana Ballet Theatre gathered the best graduates of the A. Seleznyov Almaty Choreographic School on its stage. In order to form its own individual style and image that could be presented to the audience, the company has been working for a year to combine classical traditions with new trends in modern and folk choreography. It was a time of intense rehearsals, searching for their handwriting and creating new productions.
In July 2013 the first premiere took place and it immediately became clear that Astana Ballet Theatre was not just accepted by the audience, but was also loved by them.
Today the theatre has many admirers in Kazakhstan and abroad and grand plans for the future.
Receiving personality traits
The diverse repertoire of the Astana Ballet theatre is its characteristic feature. It is constantly replenished with works of national and world classics, as well as original choreographic productions.
In different periods, such famous ballet-masters as Astana Ballet have collaborated with the theatre: Gulzhan Tutkibayeva, Aigul Tati, Altynay Asylmuratova, Mukaram Avakhiri, Nikolay Markelov, Nikita Dmitrievsky, Patrick de Lacroix, Nannet Glushak, Paul Gordon Emerson and Ricardo Amarante and each of them contributed to the formation of a unique image of the theatre.
It is in a leading position among Kazakhstan's ballet companies and has a vibrant touring life. In a short period of time, Astana Ballet has presented its repertoire in such cities as St. Petersburg, Vienna, Moscow and Paris. The staff of the theatre is constantly in the creative search, trying out new images and conducting bold experiments.
