Performance of light puppets. Nikolai Zykov Theatre (Moscow)
Description
Staying at home with the kids? It's time to go out - literally!
Give magic to yourself and your children! The most titled puppeteer of Russia - Nikolay Zykov (Moscow) with a big Light Puppet Show.
Children, and perhaps even mums and dads will squeal with delight, because the Performance takes place in the dark and looks like a bright holiday with interactives.
We will not see ‘live’ human actors, but big levitating jellyfish, Firebird, ballerina, butterflies, huge skeletosaurus and other characters will ‘come to life’ on the stage. The light puppets are from one to eight (!) metres in size.
Each miniature is a separate issue. There is no text in the performance. You will be able to give your own title and interpretation to each miniature.
The secret of the bright and expressive images of the puppets is in the unusual material from which they are made. It is not written about it neither on the Internet nor in textbooks. These are not just theatre puppets with light sources fixed on them. Two technologies are used for their manufacture - LEDs and electroluminescent wires.
The design of each puppet is original. There are puppets controlled by threads from the top of the puppet: the puppeteer controls from one to eight puppets simultaneously. There are puppets controlled from below two and five cane puppets. There is a giant puppet structure of several puppets at the same time, which comes to life in front of your eyes.
The Theatre's founder, world stage artist Nikolai Zykov, is a relative of the legendary Soviet puppeteer Sergei Obraztsov. The performances have been shown in more than 50 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America. Critics have called the performance ‘goosebump-inducing’ and Nikolai ‘one of the most important puppeteers in the world.’
Nikolai Zykov is the author, director, artist and performer of more than 20 puppet shows with international awards: ‘Innovation in Art’ Award of the 12th Shanghai International Arts Festival (2010), Award for “Outstanding Performance” of the 21st UNIMA World Puppetry Congress in Chengdu (2012), Award for “Performing Excellence” of the Asia-Pacific Commission of the UNIMA World Union of Puppeteers (2014), Award of the Colombo International Theatre Festival (2015), Outstanding Performance Award of the Bucharest International Festival of Contemporary Puppetry (2016), Outstanding Creativity Award of the Asia-Pacific Commission of the UNIMA World Puppetry Union (2017), Laurels of the 70th Edinburgh Theatre Festival's ‘Full House Show’ (2017), Honourable Mention of the 3rd Quanzhou Great Maritime Silk Road International Arts Festival (2017)
